William Sutton Homes, in conjunction with Countryside Properties plc submitted a successful bid to partner with the London Borough of Newham on the first of nine redevelopment projects aimed at regenerating the Canning Town area. APL was commissioned as William Sutton Homes’ Employers Agent prior to the first elements of the bid being prepared.
The role encompassed the usual duties, but was expanded to include leading on behalf of William Sutton in lengthy negotiations with both Countryside and the Council in seeking to agree a complex tripartite development agreement which met the regeneration aspirations of the Council, the sustainability aspirations of all stakeholders and the risk profile which was acceptable.
This has resulted in a project of 650 dwellings, of which William Sutton will take 227 for affordable housing of various tenures.
The project has now gained planning consent and will start on site in November 2009.
